This variety was described as growing on Orcas in 1889, and is also known as Lawver, while we have not found living trees of Delaware Red Winter in the islands, there is a unique seedling cross of Delaware Red Winter X Jonathan growing at Warm Valley Farm, where George Meyers once had his commercial orchard. Delaware Red Winter does not seem to have come from Delaware, rather its origins may be from a Native Huron orchard in Kansas. It is a medium, round, late, red apple that keeps well.
You can view watercolors of Delaware Red Winter in the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
